- Press the Page Sorter tab to allow you to see a thumbnail image of each page in your Notebook file.

- Press the Gallery tab for collections of SMART’s custom pages, clip art, Macromedia® Flash® animations and video you can add to your Notebook file.

- Press the Attachments tab to add hyperlinks to or attachments from other software applications in your file.

- Press the Properties tab to change attributes of shapes, text, animate, or record

Press the arrow button to move the four tabs to the other side of the page – often a more comfortable location for left-handed presenters.

You can hide the tabs from view when you have finished working with them by checking the Auto-hide check box.

Working with Notebook Software Gallery Collections

What is the Notebook Software Gallery?

The Notebook™ software Gallery helps you quickly develop and deliver lesson activities and presentations in rich graphic detail. Thousands of high-resolution images, audio, video, Macromedia® Flash® and entire Notebook files are organized into searchable collections that allow you to create attractive, reusable content.

Searching for Gallery Content

To look for Gallery items using the search field:

  1. Press once inside the search field
  2. Type a keyword related to the type of object(s) you are looking for.
  3. Press the Search or ENTER KEY to display your results.
  4. All results come in 4 or 5 categories: Related Folders, Pictures, Interactive and Multimedia, Notebook Files and Pages, and Background and Themes. The number in parenthesis is how many items are in each category.
  5. Click on the Results arrows to view items.

Use the Capture toolbar to capture a selected area of your screen, a window or a full screen of content directly into Notebook software. Your computer does not need to be attached to a SMART Board™ interactive whiteboard to use the Capture toolbar, but SMART Board software must be installed.

1.Press the Camera on the toolbar. This activates the Capture Toolbar.

2.Navigate to the screen you want to capture, such as a Web page. The Capture toolbar will remain open over any active application or Web browser. There are four ways to capture content:

The captured image will appear in your Notebook file. Notice the check box entitled “Save to new Page” in the Capture Toolbar. Images can be placed on a new page every time or continually placed on the same page. You can then make these captures a permanent of the Gallery.

  1. Once you find an object you would like to use in your lesson, you can insert it onto the page of your Notebook file in 2 different ways: Double clicking on the object, or clicking and dragging the object to the page.

From there you can do the following things:
Rotating an Object: Touch the rotation handle and turn. You can rotate both clockwise and counter clockwise.
Resizing an Object: Drag the object’s resize handle to change its dimensions. /

/ Drop-Down Menu:
  • Clone: Makes one exact copy of the object
  • Delete: Deletes the selected object.
  • Locking an image: There are 3 options to locking an image. (1) “Lock in Place” won’t allow anything to be done to the image.
(2) “Allow to Move” allows the image to be moved but not rotated, resized, flipped, etc.
(3) “Allow Move and Rotate” allows the image to be moved and rotated but not resized, flipped, etc. Once an image is locked, you will have to unlock it to make any changes to it.

Drop-Down Menu:

  • Flip: Allows you to flip an image either left/right or up/down.
  • Infinite Cloner: This is a toggle that allows you to make an unlimited number of copies of the ORIGINAL image. It stays activated until you turn it off. When an image has Infinite Cloner turned on, you will see an infinity symbol in the upper right-hand corner when you tap on the image. To clone the image, click and drag with your fingers, keeping your finger on the board.
  • You can add a link, or a sound to the objects.

Properties opens the Property tab and allows you to change certain parts of the object.

Grouping Objects: To make multiple objects operate as one, you have to group them. The first step is to select each object to be included in the group. To group, follow these steps:

  1. Place the objects in the location (relative to each other) where they are to be grouped.
  2. Select them all at the same time. Do this by dragging across all objects, beginning at a location on the board beyond the location of the objects. As you drag across the objects, they will be selected. You can group a number of objects.
  1. Then, select any one of the drop-down menus to group.

  1. To ungroup the objects, select thedrop-down menu, then you will have the Ungroup option.

Layering Objects:

The ability to layer objects enables you to be very creative in preparing interactive lessons. As you add objects, the most recent one added to your page is the one that appears on top when you move one object over the other. To make a change to the layering:

  1. Select an object
  2. Click the Drop-Down menu
  3. Order-Choose the order in which it should appear:

~Bring to Front and Back will move an object up and down to the very top layer and the very bottom layer.

~Bring Forward and Backward will move an object one step forward or backwards in the layers.

Examples of using layering with Ink:

  1. Type the information that you want on the page.
  2. Click on a pen tool. Change the properties to have a thick pen that is the same color as the background.
  3. Draw over the words on the page.
  4. To Reveal: Pick up the Eraser and Reveal the information below the ink.

The Toolkit helps you create engaging content like word games, quizzes, crossword puzzles and sorting tables. It also offers Adobe Flash tools like hide-and-reveal and drag-and-drop. Your lessons move and respond with as much energy as your students. You will find many prepared Lesson Activity Toolkit (LAT) Notebook files in the SMART EXCHANGE.

The LAT content is divided into 3 categories: Pictures, Interactive and Multimedia, and Notebook Files and Pages. You will want to spend time becoming familiar with these tools. All can be modified to relate to your curriculum content.

The “My Content” area is where you can store your favorites—images, flash files, and page templates. To Add something to the “My Content” do the following steps:

  1. Find an object in your search that you like.
