Classes 2 and 3
Dear Parents,
Happy New Year and welcome back to a new term.
This term Class 2 will be joined by Miss Hannah Guest, a third year BA honours student from Worcester Teacher Training College. Miss Guest will be teaching some of the lessons with the support of Mrs Collins and Mrs Child.
Our theme this term is Ancient Egypt.
Attached to this letter is a summary of what the children will be learning.
In addition the following information is important:
P.E.
Monday P.E. sessions will take place in the village hall. Children will be covering the dance and movement curriculum with Mr Roberts. Full P.E. kit (white t-shirt, green sweatshirt, navy blue or black jogging bottoms) and trainers will be required.
On Friday mornings children will be doing outside games with Mr Wellings. In adverse weather the children will be transported to the village hall.
OnTuesday afternoons the children will take part inoutdoor maths and science activities using ideas based on Forest Schools. The children will need to bring waterproof clothing and wellington boots or old outdoor trainers.
Reading
The children have been asked to keep a record, in their home school links book, of all the books they read and the dates they started them. It is important that they read at home every day and can discuss favourite books by author or genre. This book is also a key link between home and school. Please ask your child to hand in their book if you have any messages. Please do not hesitate to come into school if you want to discuss the books your child is reading; we are always happy to help.
Comprehension activities and reading different texts form an integral part of many lessons. All of this is monitored carefully by teachers and support staff. In addition, there is a quiet reading time every day.
The children will learn Spanishwith Mrs Wilson on Monday afternoons.
Weather Station
Children will learn how to use the weather station bought for the school by the Parish council and make weekly reports. Thank you to Mr Martin Smith for his time and commitment.
.
