(Hotels between 20 and 100 Rooms as of January 1, 2004):

In accordance with section 4503.1 of the Bahamas Building Code, ground floors of hotels constructed as of January 1, 2004 are required to be wheel chair accessible (with adequate ramps), and there is to be at lest one handicapped room available. However, hotels constructed prior to January 1, 2004, though exempt, are strongly encouraged to provide handicapped facilities – at a minimum, ramp access to the ground floor.

Handicapped rooms should have accessible mirrors, bathrooms, hand wash basins, sanitary fixtures, shower head controls and control switches, and other accessories. Bathrooms should have showers with grab rails.

(Hotels with more than 100 Rooms as of January 1, 2004):
