Joan Rhodes-Copeland, Executive Director, CAGHR

ANNE CORSO serves as the Director of Education at the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia. As such, she manages a team of educators, the Museum’s Perry Glass Studio, the Jean Outland Chrysler Library, along with a corps of over 80 volunteer docents. Prior to her tenure at the Chrysler, she has held Director of Education positions at the Delaware Museum of Art in Wilmington, Delaware as well as the Reading Public Museum in Reading, Pennsylvania.

SPEAKERS

LOIS BOYLE, founded Access Virginia in 2014 to provide access for persons with hearing and vision loss at performing arts theaters in the Hampton Roads area and in Access Virginia’s first year, they provide open captioning and audio description at four local theaters bringing positive, tangible changes to the lives of residents in Hampton Roads while bringing a new audience to the theaters. She worked with the Hearing Loss Association of America Virginia Beach Chapter and Norfolk Commission for Persons with Disabilities in their efforts to obtain access to performing arts theaters and in 2012 began providing open captioning at Chrysler Hall, Norfolk for their Broadway season. Access Virginia strives to educate the public about the importance of providing accommodation while making entertainment come alive for persons with hearing and vision loss.

LYNNEERGis the Executive Director of PrimePlusNorfolk Senior Center. For almost fifty years, the center has been offering quality programs for Active Adults by providing opportunities for seniors, age 50+, to learn, grow, and participate in activities that meet their social, emotional, physical, intellectual and economic needs. They also offer an Adult Day respite program for those who need some supervision.The goal of PrimePlus is to support older adults to enjoy independent lives as they age. The center is located at 7300 Newport Avenue, Suite 100, in Norfolk and was previously the Jewish Community Center.PrimePlus is a not-for-profit corporation and has served the citizens of Hampton Roadssince 1968.

DONALD WILSONwill discuss the arts and how they represent ethnic diversity.Donald is currently a professor at The Art Institute of Virginia Beach, serving in the foundation’s department, and working out of his studio as a fine artist. He received his M.F.A. from Old Dominion University and Norfolk State University. Specializing as an artist in mix-medium works, but is comfortable creating with any of the singular medium such as drawing, painting, or sculpture

CHERYL WHITE, Director of Glass Wheel Studio graduated Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and a Master of Arts in Humanities. She work experience at some of the area’s most prominent art institutions including the Baron and Ellin Gordon Art Galleries, Suffolk Art Gallery and Chrysler Museum of Art. She developed and taught ODU’s first 21st century-focused art history topics course. An ardent supporter of public art, Cheryl currently serves on the Norfolk Arts District and NEON Festival committees.
