GENERAL MEETING FOR ALL HAMMERSMITH & FULHAM NUT MEMBERS

All NUT members in Hammersmith & Fulham are invited to our next General Meeting on Thursday 26th January in Hammersmith Town Hall, King Street, W6 - 5.00pm to 6.30pm

(and please join us for a drink in the Salutation pub afterwards).

Please read our flyer (copied overleaf) for further details on the agenda.

  1. Our President, Mark Hopper (Fulham Primary School) will open the meeting at 5.00pm, welcome members and guests and introduce the evening’s business.

2.  Joint Secretary Dennis Charman, (Cambridge School) will outline the Government’s new Performance Management regime and what we will do locally to support members. (10 minutes)

  1. Disability affects many of our members, our students and their families. Debbie Domb is a local campaigner on Disability issues and is very aware of how local and national policies are affecting local people and families. What can we do locally to support such campaigners? (25 minutes)

4.  Pensions is one of the biggest issues facing teachers and we want to bring members up to date and, most importantly, hear your views about what we can and must do to protect our futures. We will use the motion below to help focus the discussion. (25 minutes)

  1. Joint Secretary Amy Lassman, (Kenmont Primary School), will report on the key aspects of the Council’s policy on school provision including the proposed West London Primary School and the potential impact on other primary schools. There is a consultation currently in place and a petition – what views do we need to make sure are expressed? (10 minutes)

6.  Finally, what should the NUT Priorities be in 2012? Lots of local NUT associations (including us) have submitted motions for discussion at the Easter Annual NUT Conference. We can prioritise six of these – help us to decide which issues are your issues!

7.  After the meeting come and join us for a drink in the Salutation pub opposite where you can drink, eat, question, gossip, chat, network, argue, propose, dissent or just relax for a few moments.

This Association meeting notes that the Heads of Agreement “offer” made by the government to teaching unions on December 19th still means that we would have to pay more, work longer and get a smaller pensions.
