All but one of their team (Julie Rana) fell by the wayside before Sunday. Two other riders who were doing the Pleasure Ride and a passing 40km member made up a fun team just to use up the spare set of rosettes and win back their donated prize.

Thanks to Newcastleton for hosting the event, always a jolly day, and thanks to some great, and unusual, prizes. The traditional ‘glassware’ to all competitors marked the Chinese Year of the Horse (couldn’t let that pass!) Lovely to see new faces on some teams and meet up with old friends. One Border rider competed in the very first Hadrian’s Challenge at Jedburgh in 1998 as a pleasure rider and this time took on the 40km – they won then too! Full teams for Hexham next year, please.
