STATUS REPORT
1. status
At long last the fourth working draft of Specification 17G (13628-7) has been completed by the technical writing team (within the 17G task group), finalizing missing annexes and sections and incorporating most of the technical comments received from the larger task group from its August 2012 meeting. The working draft has been distributed to the entire task group for a second round of technical review/comments ahead of its January 18 meeting. The draft has also been sent to API staff so it can start the normative reference/figures/tables/nomenclature clean-up, figures preparation. The working draft now stands at 667 pages. A huge debt of thanks go to the twelve member technical writing team, headed by Chevron, to make the "full" working draft, a reality.
Much of the new text resides in Clauses 6 and 7 and Annexes C, D, I, K, L, and M. These new sections have technical information that may cross over into other API technical groups, notably 17TR7, 17TR8, 17R, 16A, and 6A. The draft will be made available to these task groups for their input back to 17G; and the draft text will hopefully aid in their further technical pursuits.
The "Baby G" effort has been on hold, awaiting the issuance of the 17G document. Their efforts will be restarted at the 17G task group meeting on January 18.

3. WORK IN PROGRESS
o The working draft was issued in December 2012 and has been circulated to the task group for comments "as a whole". The draft was nearly a month late in getting released, so the technical writing team decided to cut-off the comment resolution process (from the August notes received) and send it out. The task group will review and provide technical comments that will be resolved as a whole document prior to ballot submittal to the greater SC 17. Hopefully comments that weren't addressed from August will be resubmitted as part of the January review.
