Introduction

The Landscape Institute and IEMA publish the Guidelines for Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (GLVIA), now recognised as the established guidance on good practice in landscape and visual impact assessment of developments, for landscape architects and other landscape, planning and environment professionals. The second edition was published in 2002 and is now due for revision in order to reflect current landscape thinking and practice as well as changes in the policy context and statutory framework.

The key tasks and outputs for the project are as follows:

Phase 1

  1. Appoint GLVIA Advisory Panel and Chair
  2. Appoint writer
  3. Convene group of priority consultees
  4. Draft and publish interim guidance if required
  5. LI and Taylor Francis (T&F) agree publication schedule and marketing arrangements, sign contract

Phase 2

  1. Advisory Panel and writer agree proposed structure and contents
  2. Consultation on proposed structure and contents
  3. Writer delivers first draft
  4. Advisory Panel feedback and member consultation
  5. Writer delivers second draft incorporating agreed changes
  6. Advisory Panel feedback and member consultation
  7. Writer delivers final draft incorporating agreed changes and including all illustrative material
  8. Submitmanuscript to publisher

Phase 3

  1. Proofs correction and final submission
  2. Publication, launch events and promotion
