Guidelines for Completing the Job Application Form

These guidelines are intended to assist you in completing your application form. Please ensure you read them prior to completing the form.

Job Application Form

The form is designed to enable you to tell us how you meet the requirement of the job for which you are applying. All information you provide will be treated in a confidential manner in line with Data Protection regulations.

Should you need to use additional sheets for any section of the application form you will need to make sure your name and post applied for is clearly marked on each sheet.

1. Personal Details

Please complete all parts of this section. This will allow us to contact you should your application be shortlisted for interview.


2. Employment (Current or most recent)

Please tell us about your current employment. If you are not currently in paid employment please tell us about your most recent employment.

If you have not previously undertaken paid employment you may include any voluntary or unpaid work you are currently or have recently undertaken.

3. Employment History

Please tell us about all previous employment and include any gaps in your employment history. You may also include any voluntary or unpaid work you have undertaken.

4. Qualifications

Please tell us about all qualifications you have obtained and what grade you achieved. If you are currently working towards a qualification you may also include it in this section, indicating when you expect to complete the qualification.

If successful you will be required to provide proof of qualifications.

5. Training

Please tell us about any relevant training you have undertaken. If you are currently undertaking training you may also include it in this section.

6. Teamworking

Please tell us about how you feel you could contribute to Neath Port Talbot CVS team. You can give examples of when you have previously contributed to team working.

7. Membership of Professional Bodies

Please tell us if you are a member of any professional body and what membership level you have achieved.


8. Interests

Please tell us about any interest you have that you feel are relevant to the post for which you are applying.

9. Experience and Achievements

On no more than two sides of A4 paper please tell us your experience, achievements, skills and knowledge that you feel are relevant to the post for which you are applying. These may have been gained during paid or unpaid employment or voluntary work. Anything over two sides of A4 will not be considered.

This section enables you to tell us specific information in support of your application. Please ensure you have made reference to any relevant examples of how your experience, achievements, skills and knowledge meet the tasks included in the job description and the criteria in the person specification.

10. References

Please give us details of two referees one of whom must be your current employer. If you are not currently employed you will need to provide details of your most recent employer or if you are undertaking unpaid or voluntary work you may provide details of the manager of your placement. If you have not previously worked you may provide details of someone who knows you well enough to comment on your ability to do the job. You should not provide details of anyone who is related to you.

Employment with Neath Port Talbot CVS is subject to receipt of satisfactory references. In instances where references are received prior to the interview date they do not form part of the selection process.

11. Additional Information

Please tell us about additional information relevant to the post for which you are applying.

12. Declaration

General Information

Completed job applications must be received by the closing date. We cannot guarantee that any application received after the closing date will be accepted/considered

If you have been shortlisted for interview you will normally be informed of this within two weeks of the closing date for the post.

If appointed you will be required to provide evidence of your right to work in the UK. This is in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.
