Part 3- Examination

3.1 Examination- Wall and Surface Preparation

A. Examine substrates for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

3.2 Installation

A. Install product in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

1. Inspect for cracking, surface irregularities, damaged drywall and damp areas. Repair as required before installing.

2. Ensure wall is structurally sound, flat and without bulging, lumps or bumps.

3. Ensure wall is capable of supporting weight of the panels.

4. Ensure surface is free from dirt, grime, grease or loose or peeling materials. If possible remove any papered materials before application.

5. Ensure wall is thoroughly dry before starting installation.

6. Carefully measure entire height and width of the wall. Recheck to confirm measurements.

7. Adhesive Method:

  1. Panel Preparation: Cut panel into desired dimensions. Apply two strips of heavy duty double sided tape (this holds the panel in place while the non-water based adhesive glue sets.)
  2. Apply the construction adhesive to the panel surface evenly. Be conscious of drying time. Do not allow the adhesive to set before setting the panel in place.
  3. Panel Installation: Starting at the bottom row if the row is parallel to the floor or skirting, apply the first panel, one panel in from the edge.
  4. If the bottom row needs to be cut to shape, start one row up. Then go back to the first row later and trim. Cut as required.
  5. Continue to fix the first row of panels leaving the bottom row edge panels until last.
  6. Align subsequent rows.
  7. Use the spacers between the panels to ensure equal spacing and continually checking with a level so that the panels are being applied to your wall horizontally and vertically correct and parallel to each other.
  8. Install decorative reveal and edge trim, if desired, according to trim manufacturer’s instructions.

8. Rail and Clip System

Panasphere panels can also be installed using a rail and clip system, which are conventionally used in commercial applications, and can be easily purchased though hardware retailers. Follow hardware manufacturer’s instructions.

9. Irregular Spaces: Not all wall corners, floors or ceilings are square. Panasphere panels can be cut and or edged to match irregular angles.

Create a template and shape your panel. You can make a cardboard template of the irregular shape and use it to cut the panel prior to fitting. Tip: always measure twice, then cut. Remember to take into consideration knife thickness when cutting.

10. Matching edge-banding can be purchased separately to finish any cut edge, if desired.

3.3  Maintenance and Cleaning

A.  Clean with mild household detergent and non-abrasive lint free cloth. Most common stains should be easily removed. (Note: Avoid using any corrosive chemicals such as bathroom or toilet cleaners which may permanently damage the surface.) After cleaning wipe off residue with clean warm water.

B.  Avoid contact with sharp or abrasive objects. TFL is designed to be resistant to minor scratches but can be damaged if excessive force is applied to the surface. Always cover the surface first prior to placing any sharp objects on the surface.

C.  Avoid contact with any hot surfaces. TFL is resistant to heat but prolonged exposure to heat may cause permanent damage to the surface. Always use a protective pad to minimize the exposure to heat damage.
