Guidance and Counseling for Administrators

Fall 2015 Workshops

Overview: Research shows more fully implemented school guidance and counseling programs positively impact student performance. This professional development will address philosophy, tools, and strategies to enhance and evaluate your comprehensive guidance and counseling program as well as the principal/counselor relationship. Tom Schlimpert, Assistant Director of Guidance and Counseling at the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, former school principal, will facilitate.

Outcomes: As a result of this experience, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the program design, components and impact on student performance
  • Locate and use tools to evaluate the guidance and counseling program, school counselor, and impact on student performance, including Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
  • Create improvement strategies and growth plans
  • Collaborate with peers

Target Audience: K-12 Administrator, Counselors or Administrator/Counselor Teams
