Old Business
Race in Staunton on Apr. 20: Has been cancelled. SVTC will not need to time this race.
Grand Caverns 5k, Apr. 29: Will be timed by Corrinne Makarawich, with help from J.R. and maybe L.H., J.C., and Butch Proctor. R.R. will drop off the boards, timer, and display clock.
Indoor Track Meets:Due to illness, L.H. could not complete an inquiry into using the indoor track at JMU’s UREC. Next year, EMU might again host the SVTC indoor track meets.
Constitution and Bylaws: R.R. wants clear, succinct bylaws. R.R. wants a 3 year rotation for SVTC President: President Elect, President, then Vice President. Secretary, Treasurer, and Publicist will serve staggered 2-year terms. Qualifications to vote were discussed. J.R. suggested that the elections could be “Instant Runoff” among those SVTC members who have been members at least a year, and who choose to attend the SVTC meeting at which the elections occurs. L.H. raised concerns about low turnout for such a vote, and suggested either voting online or at the last two SVTC summer track meets. J.R. raised concerns about candidate popularity versus commitment.
New Business
Don Glick Fun Run: Will be 8am Saturday June 4, at the old Montevideo Middle School. No entry fee.
SVTC Thur. Summer Track Meets: Will be Jun 9, 23, Jul 7, 21, and Aug 4. R.R. will get the insurance docs.
SVTC logo:R.R. and L.H. desire a more modern looking SVTC logo. J.C. suggested a contest for a design. R.R. wants the logo to evoke running, and not be too abstract.
SVTC Sportsperson of the Year: Was nominated by M.G., to be Gary Bugg, for coaching for 50 years, and for creating a co-ed meet 35 years ago that is still held each year.
Mountain Valley Half Marathon and 10K May 21: R.R. might miss the event, to attend the U.S. Senior Games at Christopher Newport U. Entry fee will be the same as last year’s 10 Miler. We need volunteers. J.R. suggested asking Shen. Val. Bicycle Coal. for help, and L.H. suggested asking Bluestone Bike & Run.
