National Memorial Arboretum

Filming Agreement

Use of the Arboretum for Filming

Terms and Conditions for Broadcasters and Filmmakers

In order that the National Memorial Arboretum and its Remembrance objectives are promoted, broadcasters and filmmakers are welcome to use it as a recording location.
For resourcing and event scheduling reasons, please note that permission to record must be sought at least one week in advance.

In order to support the objectives of the Arboretum, on transmission (radio, television or online), it is a requirement that the broadcaster includes reference to the recording having taken place at “the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire”. The location fee, payable in advance of recording and currently £2,000, will be duly refunded following this mention in the eventual broadcast. The location fee may be waived in exceptional circumstances.

If the proposed filming is in respect of anything other than a factual broadcast (i.e. a DVD for commercial distribution), a charge will be made.

Permission to film may be refused if it is thought likely that the crew’s presence will disrupt the operation of the Arboretum and its events, cause inconvenience to its visitors, or negatively impact the reputation of the Arboretum or The Royal British Legion.

When filming at the Arboretum, no part of the grounds or its contents (trees, plants, memorials, sculptures, signage, lawns, paths, fences, etc,) are to be damaged, moved or covered over. Vehicles are not permitted on any grassed areas.

Best practice health and safety procedures should always be followed and filming should never put visitors or employees at risk of injury. The permit holder will be responsible at all times for the safe keeping of his/her own equipment and those of his/her crew members and the Arboretum shall not be responsible for and excludes all liability in respect of any loss, damage or theft of the same.

Use of Arboretum video footage

The Arboretum has archive video footage which can be made available to broadcasters. An administration fee of not less than £50 will be charged by the Arboretum for sourcing the film and further charges will be made by our production company.

If the footage is to be used in respect of anything other than a factual broadcast, a further charge may be made.

If Arboretum footage isshown within a programme, there should be an on screen credit of “Courtesy of the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire” during or at the end of the programme to acknowledge its use.

Copyright will remain the property of the Arboretum at all times and further unauthorised distribution of the footage, including digitally, is forbidden.
