FUNdraisingInformation

As part of our preparation to serve others as a group we participate in fundraising efforts to offset the cost of the mission trip. Fundraising is an important activity that helps us provide scholarships for students who may not otherwise have been able to attend. The funds are also used to keep fees passed on to families at a lower level. Each registrant is expected to participate in fundraising. We achieve our fundraising goals through various methods, both group and personal fundraising. Don’t worry. With God’s help, we’ll be a success together!

Group Fundraising is planned in two parts: 1. Congregational General Appeal, and 2. Free Car Wash

Details and Dates:

March 4th Faith-in-Action Congregational Appeal Fundraising:A few of our students will give testimonies during the worship service to our congregation about their experiences on past mission trips. We will man three booths (narthex, front desk, and fellowship hour) soliciting support for the trip. Each student is asked to work two shifts (one each week)

  • 2 required shifts - March 4 & March 11
  • Donation booths after both services for Congregational Fundraising. Must sign up to help for both of these dates. We will send out a Sign-Up Genius email closer to the events.

June 9th Free Car Wash – The Car Wash is a FREE car wash that we run based on pledges of members and free will offering from the community. In the week leading up to the car wash we will call members and ask for their support of the car wash. Members will be encouraged to support us by making a pledge per car washed. The more we wash the more we raise! The week following the Car Wash we will reach back out to members to thank them for their support and provide them with their totals.

  • June 5 or 6 – Pledge Calling 6-8pm
  • June 9 – Car wash 10AM-2PM
  • June 12 or 13 – Pledge Follow-up 6-8pm

Personal Fundraising of $150 Details and Dates: Due by June 24th

Each participantis asked to raise at least $150 personally through creative fundraising! This is an important required part of trip preparation. Your parents can’t write a check and bail you out just before the trip! EVERYONE needs to raise it by June24th. This is a HUGE part of your trip: your investment and making it possible for everyone to go.

How to achieve this….

Step 1: PRAY!!! – You always want to bring God in on your plans before you start“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established” Proverbs 16:3 “This is the confidence we have in approaching God, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us. “ 1 John 5:16

Step 2: Start with one of these ideas or come up with a new plan!

  • Personalize and send out missionary-style support letters to family and friends using the “Mission Trip Support Letter Template”(see attached). Consider also posting the information on a Go-Fund-Me or a Facebook Fundraiser.
  • Participate in Rent-A-PYG – Members of our church are excited to hire you to help with spring cleaning, gardening, and other tasks. They tend to be very generous! Talk to Liz if you would like to go this route.
  • Or you could seek out some friends and neighbors if you can provide services for them such as helping around the house or lawn mowing
  • Hold a bake sale or lemonade stand with friends: Make it FREE and have posters for donations for the trip. When people know why you’re fundraising you raise more money!
  • Make items (like greeting cards, jewelry, or home décor and sell them on social media or ecommerce sites like Etsy
  • Make a Facebook event on a particularday for a skill you have (like painting nails) and say you’re doing this event and charging to raise money for the trip.
  • Looks for babysitting opportunities. Hint* There are tons of families in the church looking for help from YOU!
  • Give lessons for a skill you have; dance, music, art, singing ~ just to name a few!
  • Use money from your summer job, allowance, or savings.

Step 3: Thank God for all ofthe support & celebrate our great accomplishment!
