GrantApplication and Instructions

1.Grant applications must be submitted electronically.Save the entire application as a Word document and fill out completely. (DO NOT send as .pdf file.) Incomplete or altered applications will not be considered.Be specific and provide copies of supportingdocumentationalong with this application.Keep a copy for your files.

2.You must request a specific grant amount.List specific item(s), price, and vendor information.Equipment/technology items must be from the GCSD Compliant Equipment List.Please contact the GCSD Technology Department before you complete your application to ensure that the items you are requesting are appropriate.

3.Typical GEF grants are awarded in the $100-$1,000 range.If you are requesting funding from other sources to complete a project, please list other funders and theamount you have been granted or are expecting.

4.The applicant should be knowledgeable about all aspects of the proposed program/project and should be available for follow-up questions.Include an email address and evening phone number, as questions will occasionally have to be addressed outside of the school day.

5.Grant request deadlines areSeptember 14, 2015; November 6, 2015; January 8, 2016; and March 4, 2016. Grant applications must be received by 4 p.m. on the day of the deadline to be considered during that funding cycle.Grants received after the deadline will be considered during the next review cycle.

7.Receipt of your application will be verified via email by the GEF Grant Committee Chair.

8. You will be notified about the status of your request following the GEF meeting. If your grant is approved, funds will not be available until accepted by the GCSD Board of Education. It may take 6-8 weeks for funds to be made available. All GCSD purchasing procedures must be followed. There is no retroactive funding.

ALL GEF GRANT FUNDING REQUESTS SHOULD MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • Proposed program/project is consistent with the purpose of the Greece Education Foundation (e.g., represents an extraordinary expense that would not be funded through the District’s annual budget).
  • Program/project supports the District goals (listed on the GCSD website).
  • Program/project is cost effective and can be easily duplicated by other classes/schools.

ALL PROPOSED PROGRAMS/PROJECTS SHOULD ALSO ADDRESS THE FOLLOWING PRIORITIES:

  • Student Achievement - Focus on student achievement, enrichment, and/or student empowerment.
  • Student Impact- Number of students impacted, number of years of impact, can be easily duplicated by other classes/schools.
  • Justification of Need - Are other resources available, has an effort been made to secure other funding sources?
  • Alignment with school priorities - Aligns with your school’s current improvement plan.

Please note:

GEF funding is not guaranteed. Grant funds will not be provided retroactively. All GEF grants are subject to GCSD Board of Education acceptance. Following Board of Education acceptance, the Budget office will set up budget codes and notify the grantee; this can take 6-8 weeks following GEF approval. All purchase requisitions must be signed by the building principal and processed by the Business Office. Purchases should NOT be made from School Building Budgets in anticipation of a GEF grant award.
