Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce

Flagstaff, Arizona

Synopsis:

In a climate when many chambers of commerce are closing their doors, the Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce is taking the pulse of our community and working to demonstrate our relevance. In the past, the video shown at the annual meeting has been a series of interviews with various members from the business and government communities. However, this year the Chamber is celebrating its 125th anniversary, dating back nearly to the founding of Flagstaff, and we wanted our video to reflect the joy of this celebration, as well as a few community connections that are not so common. Our video recaps the year’s accomplishments, but in a way that shows us responding to the needs of our city: members’ requests to be connected to each other and state leaders, including the governor; Chamber positions on various pieces of legislation; connections between businesses and local educators who are training up the future workforce of the city, including our new coding camps and classes; an increased online presence; and our great Chamber events – the golf classic, a fall fundraiser with a Casablanca theme, and one of the best July 4th parades in the country.

The annual meeting is held at a local conference center and members attend either by purchasing tables for eight or individual tickets. The video is used as the kickoff for the annual meeting, so it must be professionally done. We are blessed with high quality local video producers who filmed periodically throughout the year, but still charged only $1,525.00, and the interviewees were volunteers from our membership and local schools. The video was also posted on our Facebook page, and everyone who has seen it has been impressed and asked for a copy, so it clearly achieved our celebratory purpose. In addition, we are seeing our membership grow, proving that the Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce is perceived as a relevant and necessary partner in the business community. We have seen videos produced by chambers from larger cities with more resources, and believe that the content and quality of our video competes on any level. Watch it yourself and see if you don’t start thinking about setting up business in Flagstaff, AZ!
