H

ave you seen Mammoth in the summer? Experience an alpine atmosphere like Switzerland’s without having to speak German, Italian or French—and for a lot less money.

Our campground is a beautiful wooded area within walking distance to Mammoth community. It’s at 7000’ with perfect weather for August. Hike, bicycle all over the area, sight-see and fish in the many lakes for trout, explore the many lakes, take a swim in a natural hot springs at Hot Creek, visit the Devil’s Post Pile, visit awesome June Lake and its alpine scenery, climb down into an earthquake fault where the natives used to keep their food during the summer. See a mountain of black glass, take the tram to the top of Mammoth Mountain (14,000’) and ride your bike down.

Come along and enjoy the adventures found only in the High Sierras. There is so much to do that you won't be able to do it all on this trip. Get a taste of Mammoth in the summer. There is limited space so sign up early to assure you a spot on this excursion. There are RV spots that can accommodate six people. It is a big campground so tents will have plenty of room to spread out. (Those in a tent may have to park their cars in the overflow just a stone’s throw away.) Carpool and cut gas cost and to assure yourself of on-site parking. Facilities include fire rings, picnic tables, flush toilets and an amphitheater where you can stargaze. There are pay showers across the street.

Mammoth Mountain is northwest of Bishop, CA, off highway 395. It takes five hours and fifteen minutes to get to Bishop and one more hour to the Mammoth campground. Get directions at MapQuest by keying in your address and destination as Mammoth Lakes.

If anyone wants to lead a hike for this trip or if you would like to help out on this trip to get experience with trip leading please give me a call or email me (contact info above).
