Membership Responsibilities at Great Commission Baptist Church
Having received Christ as my Lord and Savior and been baptized, and being in agreement with Great Commission Baptist Church statements, strategy, purpose, and structure, I now feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite with the Great Commission Baptist family. In doing so, I commit myself to God and to the other members to do the following:
- I will pray.
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.Mark 11:24-25
Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saintsEph 6:18
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.Phil 4:6
- I will progress in obedience to Christ.
If you love me, you will keep my commandmentsJohn 14:15
- I will discover and use spiritual gifts as led by the Holy Spirit.
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace. 1 Peter 4:10
- I will protect the unity in the church.
Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of GodRom 15:7
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ JesusPhil. 2:1-5
With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit -;just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call -;one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.Eph 4:2-6
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.Eph 4: 29
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.Heb 13:17
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing nearHeb 10:24-25
Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart1 Pet 1:22
- I will support the church through proper stewardship.
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.2 Cor 9:6-7
- I will share the gospel with others.
And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."Matt 28:18-20
