PHILOSOPHY:

During the course of this class you will discover the importance of a well designed and implemented Physical Education program. Physical Education plays an essential roll in the education of all children. The importance of life long fitness and health of our students is important in achieving academic success. Movement and physical activity are essential to quality living. Part of the purpose of this class is to help future Elementary Educators gain the knowledge and appreciation of Physical Education in the elementary school curriculum. 85 % of all children learn through movement if we can foster that movement into daily curricular lessons we will help with creating a learning environment that is inviting and flourishing for children to achieve success.

At the completion of this course it is hoped that students will value the role of movement in a child’s life and how it can be a positive addition to any classroom atmosphere. With this in mind it is hoped that as an elementary education instructor you will value the benefit of movement and incorporate this concept into the daily lives of your students.

Physical Education is the health insurance of the children we teach. Healthy lifestyles that include physical activity will be of benefit to all. “Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds”
