Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am excited to let you know that plans are moving along for our move to the new Gray Elementary School. Thanks to the support of Mr. Mathews and the Board of Education, we will have a playground in place when we move into the new school. The Board will fund part of the play area and we will continue to raise funds for the remainder of the playground. We can’t thank our students, parents, and community enough for supporting our fundraisers!

We are packing up rooms, closets, and storage areas to prepare for the move. A moving company will come in during Thanksgiving Break and move all but the items needed to teach our students during the last three weeks before Christmas Break. You will see bare walls and cabinets during that time, but know that learning will continue to go on as the education of our students will be our top priority.

We will take all students and faculty to the school to visit on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 on school buses at 1:00 pm. All students will be picked up on their buses or by their parents from the new GES on that day.

The new school is located next to the Jones County Fairgrounds at 365 Highway 18 East. It is just past Gray Station Middle School. We will have school system employees at the school Monday, December 15th from 7:15 – 8:15 and from 2:45 – 3:15 to show parents the drop-off and pick-up route. If you drop-off or pick-up your children, plan to drive-through the new school parking lot to try out the flow of traffic.

We will not have any morning or afternoon programs the week of December 15th as the faculty will be preparing to move into the new GES. This includes the After School Program. Please make plans now for your children if you participate in this program.

We are looking forward to our Open House for parents and students on January 6, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. This will be a time to show everyone the new Gray Elementary. Make plans now to join us as we prepare to open our new doors and start a new beginning. Thank you for your continued support during this exciting time!

Sincerely,

Leslie Poythress
