POSTCover Supervisor

REPORTS TOCurriculum Managers

OVERALL PURPOSE To supervise classes during the short-term absence of the assigned Lecturer.

  1. Main Duties:
  2. Supervise work that has been set by a Lecturer.
  3. Manage the behaviour of students whilst they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment.
  4. Respond to any questions from students about process and procedures.Discussing and debating texts with pupils and answering questions where appropriate.
  5. Deal with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the College's policies and procedures.
  6. Mark registers.
  7. Collect completed work after the lesson and pass to the appropriate Lecturer or Curriculum Manager.
  8. Report, as appropriate using the College's agreed referral procedures, on the behaviour of students during the class and on any problems arising.
  9. Teaching grammar where appropriate.
  10. To work with the College and procedures.
  11. To ensure the principles of equality and diversity are upheld.

2.01To undertake additional duties as required.

2.02To take part in approved staff development as part of the College’s Staff Development Programme. It is mandatory for employees to complete ‘Safeguarding Young People & Vulnerable Adults’ training and Equality & Diversity’ training, after which you will receive a ‘license’ which is renewable currently every 3 years.

2.03To ensure that the College Health & Safety procedures are adhered to and safe working practices are observed by themselves and others (including students) for whom they are responsible.

2.04To promote the College ethos with regard to Equality and Diversity and act as a role model.
