Grant Guidelines
The Rowan County Community Fund is administered by the Blue Grass Community Foundation, and is a permanently endowed charitable fund designed to support local causes and organizations. The fund seeks to make grants from the interest earned by the fund, reviewed and approved by the fund’s local advisory board. Grants will be awarded in amounts of $500-$4,000 dollars.
Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organizations, local governments, or educational units (or programs sponsored by one of these). Project proposals must serve residents of Rowan County, Kentucky, and should contribute to the improvement of the Morehead/Rowan County community.
Organizations may submit only one application per funding cycle. Fund grants do not provide continuing operational support for programs or organizations, or funding for components of projects that began before grants are awarded.
While the Fund remains flexible in trying to meet community needs, the following areas will generally not be considered:
· General operating expenses
· Endowment funds
· Operational deficits
· Individuals
· Political purposes
· Religious purposes
Grants approved by the Rowan County Community Fund are reported to the community through the annual reports and news releases. Grantees must credit the Rowan County Community Fund in news releases, brochures, and other printed material pertaining to their projects, and include the fund in lists of contributors to their organizations. Grant recipients are encouraged to make public announcements on their own, especially to support development of the fund.
