• Enteric disease investigation and response - co-ordination of administrative component s of outbreak investigations of enteric diseases and the provision of advice to local government and the community on investigation and responses to gastroenteritis outbreaks
• Food Safety – provision of advice to local government regarding the application of the Food Act; coordinate the selection of the products for sampling and in consultation with experts prepare sampling protocols for undertaking by local councils; conduct joint inspections of premises where local government sought closure orders under the Food Act.

• Emergency management – respond if required by incident controller to public health related emergencies, emergency management liaison officer duties as required; review and update the content of the Gippsland public health emergency management arrangements and contribute to the education of public health professionals in emergency management.
