2. In order to graduate from MGHD, each candidate must successfully complete a foreign language proficiency examination consisting of reading and speaking about current affairs. Proficiency exams are administered by Georgetown’s language departments. For the purposes of this graduation requirement, proficiency is defined as the ability to use the foreign language in a clear conversational manner and with sufficient fluency and accuracy to be able to read about and discuss political, economic and international issues. Non-native speakers of English, may choose to use English as the proficiency language, or another language that is not their native tongue.
