Project Description
Giving back to the community is not only a moral obligation of University of Chicago Medicine (UCM), but as a 501(c)3 hospital, the IRS 501® requires the hospital to invest and closely track any excess funds that are generated in the community.
The student will support the Community Benefit Program Specialist in the execution of the UCM community benefit strategy, including providing education and training on community benefit. Will be responsible for supporting the collection and reporting of enterprise-wide community benefit, including performing data analysis of community benefit activities. Will assist with the development of programming to achieve the community benefit strategic implementation plan and identifying programming across the enterprise that will enable UCM to achieve its CB goals. Will be responsible for supporting Manager in rolling out CBISA (CB reporting system and process) enterprise-wide. Will also assist with activities that enable UCM’s community benefit.
The student will also work closely with the community affairs team to advance programming surrounding the CB and community research initiatives. The CBPS will support partnerships and facilitate the process of bringing CB work in the neighborhood.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
Support implementation, collection and entering of data into CBISA (Community Benefit Inventory for Social Accountability) reporting system to capture all community benefit across UCM. Analyze data and create CB reports.
Support and coordinate communications with identified CB points-of-contact throughout the enterprise.
Assist in developing and managing community benefit programming
Support Development of training for UCM employees on community benefit and CBISA
Support Coordination, develop and deliver community benefit communications methods and materials for UCM
RA Qualifications:
The student should have a genuine interest in leveraging our assets and extending our core competency in health to outside our walls in benefit to our neighborhood and the broader community. Good writing abilities.
The candidate should also be: organized, comfortable with people from all backgrounds and experiences.
