2. Hi all,
As many of you know, academicrequirements set by the WisconsinDepartment of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) are increasing for Licensed Professional Counselors-In Training (LPC-IT) starting on Sept. 1, 2018. The academic requirement is changing from 42 credits to 60 very specifically defined credits.
Over the past 16 months, we have been working toupdate our existing courses, create new courses, receive approval for all coursesthrough Graduate Council, establish a separate emphasis at UWP called "MSE-Human Services,"and prepare the DSPSapplicationfor our 60 credit program.
Today I received the exciting news that our MSE-Human Servicesprogram is now pre-approved for LPC-IT preparation. That means that if a student completes our 60 credit program, the DSPS will approve the LPC-IT application of that student. This program pre-approval is new for us.
Thank you to all who contributed to this effort. All of our instructors worked to create and refine course content and syllabi. Dan- thank you for setting up our syllabus shells after consulting with instructors who have been teaching our existing courses. Judy & Vicki- thank you for gathering and archiving thesyllabi for our existing courses. Rita & Brenda - thank you for providing additional readings of syllabi. Rita- thank you fordouble checking state requirementsand for putting together our application materials. Dominic- thank you for your speedy work in obtaining approval for anMSE-Human Services emphasis before we sent our application to the DSPS. Dee- thank you for all your assistance with thecourse approval process and courseconversions. Your guidance was invaluable. To all- thank you for bringing your expertise to this project.
Congratulations to all on achieving this pre-approval status for our program. You're the best!
Ann
