Position Purpose: / The Dietitian works as a member of the multi-disciplinary team that provides quality client-focused care, ensuring a holistic approach to the patient, their families and carers. The Dietitian will encourage a best practice philosophy amongst the staff and practice within the core values of Mercy Health.
Qualifications & Requirements: / Essential:
  • Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, Master of Dietetics or equivalent qualification.
  • Eligible for membership to the Dietitians Association of Australia and APD status.
  • Minimum two years of experience in an acute and/or subacute setting.
  • Current police record check and working with children check.
Desirable:
  • Experience with establishing a new service.
  • Experience with Mental Health

CLINICAL CARE
Ensure the provision of quality clinical care with a strong focus on individual client needs. /
  • Provides quality clinical Dietetic care consistent with the policies and procedures of WerribeeMercyHospital and best practice.

  • Demonstrate competence in assessing and delivering a flexible, high quality Dietetic service to referred inpatient and outpatients using evidence based practice.
  • Demonstrate appropriate prioritisation of caseload.
  • Liaise, consult and collaborate with internal and external services, clients, family and colleagues to provide optimal care.
  • Effective individualised discharge planning.
  • Able to diffuse potentially difficult situations with patients and their families.

COMMUNICATION
Ensure effective lines of communication are maintained within the Dietetic department and with internal and external services. /

  • Confidentiality of both written and electronic patient information is maintained.

  • Documentation provides an accurate and objective account of the patient’s period of hospitalisation and upholds the privacy policy and procedures.

  • Keeps updated with memos, policies etc relating to Allied Health and MPHI.
  • Liaise with support services to provide optimal patient care.
