Camp Raising Spirits will be celebrating 22 years as a project near and dear to the members of the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of ONS. It demonstrates the commitment and dedication of health care providers who know what a difference can be made in the lives of people with cancer by giving them a place to laugh, lounge, and live life a little differently. The camp provides an excellent getaway experience for patients with cancer and their guest.
We would like to have you volunteer with us for the first time or as a returning volunteer and be a part of history. Thanks to volunteers like you this event is the longest running Camp sponsored by ONS across the country. As we prepare for this 22nd Camp Anniversary event, we certainly are hopeful that you will be able to offer your support in some way.
Camp is scheduled for Friday, June 5th, Saturday, June 6th, and Sunday, June 7th at Laurelville Camp. It again promises much entertainment, excitement and an opportunity to spend quality time with the campers and their guests. It is a marvelous experience that you will never forget.
If you are planning to volunteer, and I certainly hope you are, please complete the attached forms and return them to me by Saturday, May 2nd. In response to volunteer feedback we will be limiting the number of volunteers to 50. We will give first preference to those who are able to attend for the entire weekend. Please do not let this discourage you from volunteering. We will fill vacancies based on daily needs. Confirmation letters will be sent to you no later than May 16th.
We also encourage you to personally invite at least one camper to take part in this marvelous opportunity. The personal touch we see at camp is the most powerful approach to these very unique individuals. They often just need a little encouragement.
Also, if you are able please consider providing a monetary gift to assist us with expenses. We invite you to join us in paying tribute to Camp Raising Spirits by providing a gift of $20 or anything within your means. Every gift, regardless of its size, is a valuable investment to help campers and their guests participate in this awesome event.
