Gorzycki Incoming 8th Graders’ Summer Reading List (2016-2017)

You must choose two of the following novels to read this summer. Upon returning

to school in the Fall, you will have an assessment over each one in your English

class. You may be required to take an AR test over the books. If you have already

taken an AR test on the book, you will not be allowed to re-take the test. Select a

book you have not already read. Be sure you understand the books well. Good luck!

Parents: Please read the reviews and synopses of these books at Amazon, Goodreads,

or your favorite online bookseller to help guide your student’s choices.

All the 2016 Lone Star Titles - In addition to being on the summer reading list, if you read 15 of these titles by the middle of December, you qualify to participate in the Lone Star Challenge celebration luncheon. See the Lone Star Challenge tab on the Library website for more information.
