“Differential Diagnosis of Brain Focal White Matter Lesions in Young Adults”.

Learning objectives:

  1. To be aware of the limited specificity of brain multifocal T2 abnormalities.
  2. To learn about recognition patterns that might be helpful in suggesting the most likely etiology of brain multifocal T2 lesions.
  3. To learn about the role of spinal cord imaging in the differential diagnosis of brain T2 hyperintense lesions.
  4. To be able to establish a neuroimaging diagnostic strategy in young patients with multiple brain T2 lesions of unknown origin.

  1. To review the most common causes of tumour-like brain lesions.
  2. To learn the imaging features obtained on conventional MR imaging that may be useful in establishing differential diagnoses between tumour and tumour-like brain lesions.
  3. To be aware of the importance of advanced neuroimaging techniques for improving diagnostic specificity of brain lesions.
