Good Evening Everyone!

The past couple weeks in Kdg have been busy but as fun as ever! We had a very successful Fall Harvest Party with games, crafts, food, photos, etc. thanks to you all and all of your ideas and donations, as well as we've begun a few new programs. Last week the Healthy Kids Club came and taught us a lesson on eating 5 servings of fruits and veggies everyday! You may have seen a 1/4 of a poster with this info come home on it, so please save this because another 3 pieces the same size will also be coming home in the following weeks to complete the poster. We've also wrapped up our tree unit this week after many weeks of investigating resources and communicating our ideas around our learning. We even looked at trees from a global lens and discovered that not all trees in CO are the same as in other parts of the world. Next in our global studies we will be investigating symbols in our world and then around the world!

We also have begun Raz-kids in the computer lab as well as guided reading groups which is making everyone see that reading can be easy and enjoyable! I've seen a spark in each and everyone one of your students, and I hope you are at home as well. Tomorrow in the Friday folder will be log-in information to be able to log on and enjoy Raz-Kids at home as well. Mr. King and I have asked them to listen and read each story at least once before they take a quiz, and we would appreciate your help with reinerating this rule at home as well. The questions can be difficult, and at times take some inferencing, so if at all possible please have them ask you for help when necessary.

Happy reading!

And speaking of homework, there seems to be a lot that I've sent home with you all lately so I'd like to remind you all what everything is and when I would appreciate it being turned back in by. Hope this helps!

1. Friday Folders- returned by Monday or Tues please!

2. Shared Reading Notebook- (the white 3 ring binder) please share this reading over the weekend and then return also by Mon. or Tues each week.

3. Math Homework Packets- Please return by Wednesdays!

*Also, please check over your student's math homework before it is returned for parts that are unfinished or incorrect, your one-on-one support with what they don't understand will make such a huge difference in their math success!

4. Envelope with Leveled Reading Books- This will be due back every week when it says on your student's envelope. It's different for everyone and different groups.

5. Sight Word Lists- Please send these back when your student knows each word fluently. They need to know them without having to segment the word, so if a list is returned to you, that is probably why.

6. Reading Log Calendars for Book-It Pizza Hut program-Due at the end of the month or beginning of the new month.

7. Family Homework Projects- Ex: the family tree for November, the due date will generally be on the informational page

8. Homework Challenge Folder- I gave you this at conferences, and it along with the calendar will be due when it says on the calendar. This Trimester it's Dec.1st!

9. Library Books- AM Due by Wed. and PM due by Thurs.

Is that all? It certainly seems like enough! Thanks for your help with all of it and for keeping on top of all of this. I'm sorry it seems like a lot, but by the end of the year and by 1st grade, it is my hope that you will see why it was all necessary. Any feedback that you have is appreciated though!

Next week I will be updating some assessments before report cards come out in the next couple of weeks, so please make sure your students are well rested and at school as much as possible! Also coming up on Thurs. November 20th, will be our whole school music program which we will be practicing as much as possible as well. As the date gets closer I will be letting you also know when the whole school rehearsals will be so your student can participate as well.

Thanks for being such a supportive group of families and for trusting me with your most precious treasures! I truly love them all! Have a terrific weekend!

Hello again!

So, I ended up having a sick kid this morning and couldn't come to school today. Apparently there is a shortage of substitutes as well so as of this morn. my kdg classes were going to join the other kdg classes unless if a sub is found. Should be a fun adventure for all! Also, since I was frantically busy trying to get sub plans ready, I wasn't able to print out the raz-kids info so I thought I'd just let you know in this e-mail and then send those home Monday.

Then: have your student find their name and start reading!

Please let me know if you're having any troubles!

Thanks and have a nice weekend!
