APPENDIX 10

Good Communication Practice for PTI Trainers

Trainers should establish good communication links with next-of-kin and (through the Co-ordinator) to the sending team and prayer backers. It is important for those speaking to the wider Christian public about what you have been doing, and also for the Ministry Board to assist in developing the expansion of the Ministry. As a trainer, you will, of course, covet the prayers of the PTI family.

Safety and Security

You must be able to phone, text or email from within or outside the country at any time while you are away; you must also be contactable. Make sure you have a phone(mobile or satellite) fully charged and on 24/7. (Charger and local SIM card needed for mobiles!) Agree a contact schedule with someone in the UK – usually your next-of-kin. If you miss a scheduled contact and the person becomes concerned at not hearing from you, decisions will need to be made about whether to alert the Crisis Management Team. See Appendix 11.

Reporting back

Short bulletins(a few lines in an email or a text message)can be used toprovide brief updates and prayer requests during conferences. The Conference Co-ordinator will forward your updates to the PTI family for prayer.

A final reportshould be sent to the Co-ordinator for circulation to the PTI family a few days after your return. In preparation for this, you may find it helpful to maintain a daily log. More detailed report/debrief for the Ministry Board?

Photos

Photos will be used for a variety of purposes:

  • trainers’ presentations, eg to the home church;
  • as part of written reports to the PTI Ministry Board and to the PTI family;
  • possibly for inclusion on the PTI website or other promotional material.

To avoid sending and storing very large files, set your camera to take images of no more than 1 to 2 MB if possible. This resolution should be sufficient for the presentation to the church.

For inclusion in reports, images should be reduced in size to perhaps 150 kB. The Co-ordinator may be able to do this for you.
Photo check-list

Trainers using digital camera can write the shot number. You can then send that with your photos so that everyone knows what is what!
