2014NOMINATION GUIDELINES
Please refer to the terms of reference for eligibility and selection criteria at
Nominations received for the 2014 Gold MedalStudent Award will be evaluated based solely on the information provided for each of the categories listed below.
A)Summary of major achievements in Canada, or on behalf of Canada, credited to the nominee that show outstanding contributions to societal issues through community involvement, outstanding achievements, and leadership in the profession at the student level.
B)Social impact (60 points). This section should include areas such as community involvement, including volunteerism, demonstration of social conscience that reflects well on the engineering profession in Canada, extracurricular activities that have a positive impact on society or the image of the engineering profession, and help to develop non-technical skills, outstanding achievements that have a positive impact on society.
C)Role model (40 points). This section should include areas which demonstrate the nominee’s abilities as an effective communicator and role model within the engineering student community, who has demonstrated strong leadership skills, professionalism and ethics through active community involvement, participation in engineering student societies, institutes or other professional bodies, or in activities that enhance the image of engineering students and the engineering profession in Canada, or increase public awareness of the career opportunities that exist in engineering.
You must use the nomination form as prepared by Engineers Canada.The completed form should not exceed 8 pages using a 12pt font. Letters of support (to a maximum of three) are recommended and will not be included in the page count. Transcript(s) of marks are also required but will not be included in the page count. Any supporting documentation, such as résumés and media clippings may also be submitted but must not exceed five pages. The page count will start with the Summary of major achievements, etc.
Engineers Canada requires only one printed copy of the nomination package.All categories must be addressed and all information should be as concise as possible.
Engineers Canada reserves the right to cancel, withdraw or amend any award and/or scholarship without prior notice.
