·  Copy this document to your own folder on the school server – in word. You may have problems if you use google docs.

·  Immediately put your own footer on this document

·  Design a cover page (name of business, your name, period, art work)

·  12 pt. Font only in the body of the document (cover page, ads, etc. are exceptions)

·  List all appendix entries with page numbers in the content area using the guide provided.

·  Save every day to the server and email to yourself if possible

·  Print new material daily – do not print the whole guide!

·  Answer questions in complete sentences unless filling in bullets

WHAT BUSINESS AM I IN?

A.  Name you have given your business. Why did you choose this name?

B.  What type of business is it?

C.  Design a logotype for your store.

E.  What is it that you are trying to do better or differently from competitors?

F.  Cut pictures out of magazines, or gather electronically some of the products, styles, services, etc. that your business will carry, and/or draw some. Give a good enough selection that I see the “departments” of your store.

Each of the following should be at least a paragraph explaining the overall philosophy for this area of your image. Use the worksheet provided to brainstorm. This should help me visualize what your business will be like and who would shop there. Be creative and be consistent.

A.  Price policy (high, low, sales, compared to competition, even/odd, bundling)

B.  Merchandise variety (brand name, generic, # items, broad/limited width, depth)

C.  Employees (attitude, training, uniform, how motivated, wage expected)

D.  Target market (demographic, psychographic, geographic (if), behavioral, motive)

E.  Stores appearance (colors, theme, “comfort level”, special design, parking, size, front look, displays, and aisles?)
