Global Toilet day 19 November 2012
Global Toilet day has observed by SBMA-Plan in all 12 clusters in Bhatwari and Dunda block of Uttarkashi District. Under the school wash project it observed in 7 locations and in rest by the community WES. Main object of the event was make community sensitized towards the use of toilet. Most of the cluster observed day at school level where they have invited participants form others schools and community. Total 1135 participants including to 506 male and 629 female from 35 schools and 20 communitieshave participated in the event. The representatives were form BAL Panchayat,Children health clubs, MMD and PRI. Main activities which concluded during the event were exhibition, rally, speech, quiz and drawing competition Healthy home survey. All activities were focused on the importance of toilets and good hygiene and sanitation practices.
In all clusters event was started with the formalities of lighting the lamp and welcome session. After it main objective of the event was shared by the staff. The main object of the event was boost to good hygiene and sanitation practices among the community.
Cluster sangamchatti observed day in village Agoda where they have conducted health home survey also. During the health home survey it was found that there are total 94 families in village. It was noticed that 43 families out of 94 have their own toilets and rest all do the open defecation. It was also found that 5 families out of 43 have very clean toilets. To motivate others for keeping clean toilets award were presented these families. Chief Guest of the event vice Myare Chandra Devi shared her view on the importance of the toilet. She emphasize on construction of toilet in each family.
Most of the students shared their view through the speech. Most of the students expressed their view that we should construct our own toilets as it reduces 47% diseases.
Project staffs shared their view in almost location. They have shared their view on the objective of the project and the activities which have took place under the project. They have shared the advantage and disadvantage of the use of the toilet. In almost location it was shared by the staffs that how bad hygiene and sanitation practices influence our health. It was shared by the RavinderNautiyal hygiene promoter of cluster Sald that 1 Gm. Human excreta consist of 1c.viorues, 10 L. Bacteria, 1000 parasite and 100 egg of parasite.
