Criteria for acceptance of GLP resources submitted by teachers

In order to be accepted for inclusion on the GLP website, the content of a resource must support the main aim of the Global Learning Programme, which means it will help young people gain a critical understanding of global poverty and development. There should be substantial content around one or more of the following:

·  developing countries, their economies, histories and human geography

·  the basic elements of globalisation

·  the different ways to achieve global poverty reduction and the arguments around the merits of these different approaches

·  the concepts of interdependence and sustainability

·  supporting enquiry and critical thinking about development and development issues.

The GLP is targeted at Key Stages 2 and 3.

Resources must have clear references to the school curriculum, e.g: subject, age range / Key Stage, National Curriculum links.

There should be some options for differentiation, such as:

·  provision for different ability pupils such as those with English as an additional language, or other special needs

·  provision for different learning styles as well as differing abilities

·  opportunities for students to lead their own learning.

The resource should also provide opportunities for assessment, e.g. assessment for learning, links to formal assessments, or opportunities for pupils to demonstrate or evaluate their own progress.

Copyright permissions

The GLP will not badge or upload any resources that include text or images/media that may infringe copyright.

If your resource includes text written by a third party, images or other media, you must provide evidence that you have gained permission from the copyright-holder for these to be reproduced. You must also provide details of the source, e.g. author, publication, edition and date of publication, so that the appropriate credit can be included.

If the images/media are used under a Creative Commons licence, you must provide a link which makes this clear (for example a link to the original image/media on Flickr.com or other media sharing website).

Please note that material taken from the internet is not automatically copyright free – you need to check the terms and conditions of use. Material made publically available on the internet is still owned by the person or organisation who made it available.

You can use brief quotes from books, journals, etc as long as the source is acknowledged in your work.

YouTube

Please do not include links to third party YouTube videos in your resource.

You can send us a link is to a video that you or your school have produced uploaded onto YouTube and that you would like to submit for inclusion on the GLP website, as long as it meets the criteria outlined on the submission form.

General information

·  Pearson and Think Global will apply the correct colours and styles to the resources you supply and will make small editorial changes if necessary.

·  All documents should be less than 5mb in size in order to be uploaded to the GLP website, and for them to be a manageable size for teachers to download for use.

·  Try to use a conversational rather than a formal tone (e.g. avoid ‘thus’, ‘henceforth’ or other formal flourishes.)
