Dear Parents:

The interscholastic program has traditionally been a part of the Central School sports program. Interested students attend try-outs with the coaches assessing individual skill levels. Dependent upon the number of students and their skill level, the coaches will determine the number of teams and composition of each team. It is the goal of the Board of Education to provide some level of participation for interested students and this level will be dependent upon individual skill level. The following identifies the dates, times and coaches for each try-out schedule. Students wishing to participate should contact the identified coach.

The interscholastic sports program requires a commitment of four to five practice times per week. The practices are scheduled after school from 3:30 – 5:15 p.m. If the student participates on a team competing against other schools, the ending time on game days may be later. Students interested or committed to other extra-curricular activities sponsored by the school or other organizations (i.e., Glencoe Junior High Project play, etc.), which also meet directly after school dismissal, must realize they will be unable to participate in both activities. They will need to select one of the activities.

It is the Central School expectation that all students on a team will attend practices, fulfill all school responsibilities, practice and demonstrate good citizenship, and be provided an opportunity to participate. To be eligible to practice or play in a game, students need to attend a complete day of school (8:21 a.m. - 3:25 p.m.) and participate in all classes, including physical education. Extreme cases are subject to individual review.

The coaches conduct the try-outs and the process of selecting teams. In order to allow coaches the time to work with students and determine appropriate team placement, parents do not attend try-outs or practices.

A medical form is to be completed for each student on a team. The medical form must be completed and returned TO THE COACH by Monday, November 9. Those students without completed medical forms on November 9 will not be allowed to participate in practice sessions or scheduled games until a completed physical form is turned in. There is a 24-hr “check-in” policy for all late physicals.

As per Board policy, each student participating on an interscholastic team will be charged an activity fee. This fee must be paid through FAMILY ACCESS/Fee Management by Monday, Nov 9. This fee is required to continue participation beyond November 9.

Sport Fee

Basketball $380/student

Students or parents with questions regarding the interscholastic basketball program should contact the appropriate grade level coach.

Sincerely,

Nick Tabic/Lisa Matthew
