Conditions of Attendance and Participation

  • KSE 10 is open to members of the English Karate Federation or members of other WKF affiliated national governing bodies and competitors not in contravention of WKF statute 21.9 only. Licence checks will be carried out on the day and competitors are reminded that a valid EKF licence must be presented upon request of the organising body or it’s representative, failure to do so may result in entry being denied.
  • It is the responsibility of coaches to ensure that all competitors are registered and are in the correct categories. Competitors are only allowed to compete in their own age/gender category and are not allowed to move up a category. Entries will only be accepted via your coach/association and not from individuals.
  • All competitors must have appropriate insurance cover to participate in the KSE10 competition. It is the coach's / instructor's responsibility to ensure all members of their delegation have the necessary insurance cover in place before entering the competitor into the KSE10 competition. No refunds will be issued to individuals who are later unable to attend.
  • All competitors, coaches and supporters are responsible for their own personal safety and belongings. The organisers, officials and staff take no responsibility for the loss, damage or theft of personal items. Furthermore, participants must follow the instructions of the officials and centre staff.
  • The organiser reserves the right to change, amend or cancel events if deemed necessary to ensure the smooth running and integrity of the competition to its scheduled conclusion. In the event that a category is cancelled, whether due to time constraints or lack of entrants, a full refund will be made.
  • Every effort is made to ensure competitors are called to the appropriate area. Competitors will be called by name and directed to the appropriate area once only. If they do not arrive promptly, time permitting, a second and final call may be made. After which, they will be deemed 'Kikken' and their opponent awarded the match. This decision will not be reversed! So if a competitor is competing on another area, it is the coach's / competitor's responsibility to notify the table staff.
  • Coaches (not parents/supporters) have the right to protest against a decision made by the refereeing panel, IF they believe a procedural error has been made that contravenes WKF / KSE10 rules. Personal opinions on the validity of a point or general performance of a competitor or team are not grounds for a protest. Official protests must be in writing and may include video evidence of the procedure/decision being questioned, submitted to the Chief Referee, together with a fee of £30 CASH. If the protest is upheld, the £30 will be returned to the protester, and steps taken to reverse / remedy matters.
  • The KSE competition uses WKF rules with certain amendments to better cater for children and novices. Coaches are encouraged to read this document carefully and to attend the coach’s meeting to fully understand and convey the KSE rules of competition prior to commencement.
