Your Question and Answer Guide to the

End of Season Reindeer Romp 5k

The Reindeer Romp 5k serves as the Fall end of season GOTR 5k. This 5k is a community event sponsored by Cause to Run. Girls on the Run does not manage the logistics, registration, or details of this event.

This year the Reindeer Romp will be held at Meredith College(3800 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, NC 27607) on Saturday, December 12th at 10am. This is a NEW venue. Please make note of this change!

FAQs:

Are the girls automatically registered for the 5K?

Yes! The girls are registered as part of their program registration. Parents should not re-register their daughters.

What and who are Running Buddies?

Running buddies are adults (18 years or older) who are paired with every girl to help and encourage them while completing the 5k.
Running buddies may be a member of a girl’s family or a family friend. All Running Buddies must be 18 years old. Every girlmust have a Running Buddy!
Running buddies must register for the race.
If you, as a parent or family member cannot serve as your daughter’s Running Buddy, please tell your daughter’s coach before November 16th. The coach will notify our office and we will provide a volunteer Running Buddy for her. All community Running Buddies will have passed a background check completed
Running buddies (parents included) must pick up their bib and t-shirt at Packet PickUp.

How do we register for the Reindeer Romp?

Registration is open now.
Online registration for this event ends on December 8th! Race registration will be available on race day but expect long lines.
Call the GOTR office at 919.401.6307if you need financial assistance to serve as a Running Buddy.

Where do we park?

All race participants should drive onto campus at Meredith College using the Faircloth Street entrance. All participants will be instructed where to park. Please arrive early because there is a walk from the parking lots to the GOTR field.

Where do the girls go/meet on 5k day?

The GOTR participants will gather together with their teams and coaches on race day in the field to the left of the track (above Reedy Creek Trail) on the Meredith College Campus. This field is on the right side at the entrance to Meredith College off Hillsborough Street.
Every GOTR team will be color coded with a sign to help you find each other. Balloons will be attached to each team sign, organized alphabetically by county.

How do the girls and parents/Running Buddies get their race day materials?

GOTR and Heart & Sole participants’ race day t-shirts, medals, safety pins, race bibs will all be with the Coaches at their team location on race day. Parents do not need to pick up anything for their girls prior to the race. The Coaches will have everything they need!
Packet Pick Up is only for parents, running buddies, and community members who have registered for the event.Again, coaches will have everything the girls need on race day!

What should girls wear to the 5K?

Girls should wear their garnet colored program t-shirts at the Reindeer Romp and running shoes. The weather is unpredictable. Dress your daughter in layers! This is a rain, snow, sleet, cold or shine event!
Feel free to share your holiday spirit! Coaches may provide special tutus, Reindeer headbands, colorful socks, jingle bells, etc. for the girls on your team. Running Buddies are encouraged to come in tutus, Santa beards, Rudolph Noses, etc.

What else do I need to know?

Make sure your daughter has gone to the bathroom before you arrive at Meredith. There will be port-johns on site, but there is always a line for the bathroom!
This is a rain or shine, sleet, snow, or cold event. Cause to Run does not provide refunds for this event.
This event is great fun! The purpose is to celebrate each girl’s individual accomplishments. Every girl crosses the finish line with a smile on her face and the pride of knowing she has just done something amazing. Thank you for allowing us the privilege to witness and be a part of that magic.
