Quarter-Final – Britt Ward (SA) & Angela Shearer(SA) beat Joanne Pirie(P) & Emma Work(P) 19-16, Claire Johnston(GL) & Thora Cant(GL) beat Hannah Keith (P) & Emma Graham(P) 20-7, Harve Symonds(D) & Abbie Lyall(D) w.o Paula Bonner(SA) Kayleigh Downes(SA), Beth Rendall(P) & Emily Littlejohn(P) w.o .

Semi- Final- Claire & Thora beat Britt & Angela 16-13, Harve & Abbie beat Beth & Emily 21-10.

Final- Claire & Thora beat Harve & Abbie 21-18.

The first semi was very closely contested. All four girls showed a good standard and variety of shots. Claire & Thora edged away near the end to take them into the final but well done to Britt & Angela for making them fight hard for every point.

Harve & Abbie had a comfortable win in the second semi but Beth & Emily did well against older opposition. The final turned out to be a close and exciting game. Harve & Abbie from DounbySchool played good attacking shots, especially Abbie. The Glaitness lasses placed the shot well making their opponents stretch for their shots. The game was point for point with long and exciting rallies. Both pairings served well. Claire & Thora won the match 21-18 but Harve & Abbie played with good determination as did Claire & Thora. Well done to all four girls for a very close game.

Quarter Finals

Theo & Matthew beat Daniel & Sam 34-5, Ben & Aiden beat Patrick & Ross 19-14, Owen & Alistair beat Kevin & Thomas 27-5, Liam & Andrew beat Graeme & Cameron 17-16.

Semi Finals

Theo & Matthew beat Ben & Aiden 32-4. Matthew & Theo showed that they were the more experience pairing. They have both been attending Youth development training and this certainly has made a difference to their standard of play.

Liam & Andrew beat Owen & Alister 18-10. The younger pairing of Liam & Andrew, age 8 & 9 respectively, displayed a great variety of shots. Making their opponents have to stretch for their shots. They placed the shuttle well into the spaces.

Final

With the top two seeds making it through to the final the spectators were eagerly awaiting a good game. And the boys didn’t disappoint . Matthew & Theo started the game strongly, pushing their opponents Liam & Andrew to the back of the court. The smaller boys adapted their game well. Liam playing tight drops at the net making his opponents have to come in and lift the shuttle. Andrew served well throughout. Matthew and Theo started to control the game and gradually started to pull away from the young pairing. Matthew placing the shuttle well into the spaces and Theo using his strong smashes. The score ended up with Matthew & Theo winning 21-10. Well done to all four for displaying a high standard of badminton at such an early age.
