The Odyssey Comic Strip Project

English I

The purpose of this project is to demonstrate your knowledgeof the plot sequence and key points of The Odyssey, while applying the use of inference and your own creativity in depicting how the characters and settings are portrayed in each of the stories for Part II – The Wanderings of Odysseus. Use of textual, character, and thematic analysis will be exercised with this project.

  • Your comic strip must contain 8 total squares (1 per book): Calypso the Sweet Nymph, The Princess Nausicaa, The Song of the Minstrel, The Lotus Eaters, The Cyclops, The Bag of Winds, The Sirens, and Scylla & Charybdis.
  • What you choose to depict in each square must communicate the key points and major details of each story.
  • Your comic strip must be in color and reflect your best work, regardless of your artistic abilities.
  • Divide a sheet of white computer paper into 4 squares on the front and 4 squares on the back (or two pages). The comic must take up the entire page.
  • Use of dialogue or narration is required, but does not have to involve quoted text. You must include a caption for each square explaining the picture. Make sure you have a title.
