Gifted with the Spirit Group Game

This Group game is based loosely on the Cranium game, Hoopla! The entire group tries to get as many questions as they can right in 20 minutes. Group members take turns selecting a card and trying to get the group to come up with the right answer. The categories are roughly like pictionary, charades, name that tune and taboo.

To prepare for the game –

·  Download the game cards, print them out and then photocopy them so that the category is on one side and the question is on the other.

·  There are four categories of cards: People of God, Hymn Hum, Creative Force, and I’m Speechless. Copy each of these on different colored paper. (Use blue, yellow, red and green if you are using M&M’s to select categories. – see bullet four). Set the cards out in separate piles.

·  There are also two levels of questions, those for younger kids and those for older. If you have a mixed age group playing the game, have the members pick the card for their age level.

·  In addition to the cards provide:

o  Paper and pens for doing pictionary-type activities

o  A bag of jellybeans or M&M’s whose colors correspond with the colors of the question cards. (See bullet number 2. ) Place these in a paper bag. You can add use any extra colors as “wild cards” that allow people to choose the category of their choice. Players will pick a color from the bag to determine which category they must choose.

To Play:

·  Set a timer 20 or 30 minutes. If you have a digital one that you can pause while the player selects a card, that is ideal.

·  Group – set a goal for how many questions you think you can get right in that time.

·  Starting with the youngest, players pick a candy out of the bag and select the top card that matches the color from the proper pile.

·  The player follows the instructions on the card and gets the group to give the right answer. (The player can eat the candy piece as a reward for a good effort or successful attempt)

·  Put all your correct answers in a special pile, so you can see how you did.
