Old Business

  • Teacher Appreciation Week – This went very well and the teachers really appreciated the effort. Thanks to Sarah Hartung for organizing the week.
  • Mr. Eagle Pageant Update – Stefanie Bowen has formed a committee for the pageant and gave an update. It will be in January. The contestants can nominate themselves or be nominated by a club. The pageant will have a Super Hero theme. Hopefully, some of the male faculty will provide some entertainment. If you want to be involved with the pageant, contact Stefanie Bowen or Julie Gurley. Please encourage all boys to participate.
  • Georgiana Ballenger submitted a report with ideas for yearlong teacher appreciation.
  • Julie Tiller submitted ideas for fall fundraisers. Ideas were coffee, garland & wreaths, and Check it out!
  • Spirit Club – Mr. Evans will get recommendations for student representatives from his assistant principals. PTSO needs to find a teacher sponsor and then invite all reps (teacher, parent, student) to a meeting. This club will spearhead ideas to improve school spirit to include tailgating, school dances, pep rallies, and coordination between organizations (ie. Althletics, cheerleaders, band, students) etc.

New Business

  • Online Voting – Greta Flinn explained the issues with online voting. Basically, it can be done, but not by class. After voting, someone would need to cross check the votes with a class roster to make sure all the votes were legitimate. This should not be that hard to do. Meg will discuss with Mrs. Willliams (SGA sponsor) to see if we can try it with the vote for Freshman Class officers. PTSO volunteers would be able to do the cross check if necessary.
  • Homecoming Discussion – PTSO members expressed their desire to make changes to Homecoming so that the students would compete less against each other, come together more as a student body to beat the opposing team and do more for the community (charity drive). Also, have some decorations at the football game.
  • PTSO Officers were elected for 2015/2016. They are:
  • Meg Stevens – President
  • Sarah Hartung – Vice President
  • Laine Orcutt – Secretary
  • Melissa Harwood – Treasurer
  • The meeting was adjourned.
