GHIN Mobile App (Club Functionality)

GHIN is happy to announce the following association & club level enhancements to the GHIN Mobile App which will be released in the next week. These enhancements provide clubs with a highly customized club experience for both GHIN members and non-GHIN members, while maintaining all existing app features for diehard golfers.

Associations can strengthen their relationship with clubs by providing a valuable and unique mobile experience for their membership. Clubs can leverage their existing technology partners and give members the app they’ve been asking for.

Associations and clubs (if granted permissions) can now manage their own mobile experience within the console. The existing admin console has been expanded to provide a single point of control for GHIN staff, Association staff, and club staff to customize all aspects of their GHIN Mobile experience. A live preview of the Association Home Page is displayed in a mock mobile device to aid in customization and artwork configuration. Associations can grant access to the console to all clubs or on a club by club basis. Clubs can visually customize their members’ app experience by uploading the club’s logo image, setting a background color, and selecting a foreground color theme in the Admin Console.

In addition, Associations will now have the ability to link their YouTube videos within their app, creating a rich multimedia channel for their golfers.

Clubs can now connect directly with their providers that offer web-based services, such as websites, tee time reservations, event management, dining, and more. GHIN Mobile creates a streamlined experience for members to easily access various providers who service their club. Clubs must upload their complete Roster to the admin console to allow their members access to the provider pages.

The Admin Console provides a Quick Start Checklist offering step-by-step instructions to help clubs configure required elements needed to go live. They can also add Google Analytics, social feeds, news feeds, post Alerts, enable the photo album, create custom pages or link to webpages outside the app. There is also something called “Beta Key functionality” which allows the admin to see what the app will look like in “test mode” right on their own devices - before it goes live! The Landing Page functionality dynamically creates a promotional web page and URL that the club can use to promote the app.

All of these improvements have been added with minimal modifications to the successful core GHIN Mobile experience.

Changes to the Mobile App

1.  Initial App Launch

In order to support non-GHIN members, the initial app experience will be changed. The first screen will now have two buttons, “I’m a golfer with a GHIN Number” and “I’m a club member without a GHIN Number”, each leading down a separate path:

After tapping “I’m a golfer with a GHIN Number”, the user is presented with the GHIN Login Page prompting a GHIN number and last name. The user then proceeds as normal by selecting an Association and going to its home page.

After tapping “I’m a club member without a GHIN Number”, the user is presented with the Find My Club wizard to help them discover their club in the app. Once their club has been chosen, they are presented with the Club Login Page. The list of clubs and contact information must be loaded in order for this feature to work. And please keep in mind the golfer must be on the list of members uploaded by the club.

2.  Subsequent App Launches

For GHIN members, subsequent app launches remain unchanged (the Association’s home page is presented). For non-GHIN members, subsequent app launches depend on the “Remember” setting for the club login.

If the user’s club login was remembered, the app displays an intermediary Association branding page for a couple seconds and then displays the Club Home Page.

If the user’s club login was not remembered, the app displays the Club Login Page.

If the user logged out of the app, they will have to renter their login credentials for both the GHIN Mobile App and any Club Apps they would like to add.

3.  Changes to Association Home Page

The Association Home Page will have additional entry links to club features and the video gallery.

A “Club Directory” link will always be displayed to allow access to the Club Directory.

A “Find My Club” link will be displayed only for GHIN members who have not logged into a club. Once they have logged into a club this card will be replaced with a “My Club” link displaying the club’s logo and name.

Associations must adopt the club enhancements and have their complete club list uploaded to the Admin Console in order for members to find the club contact information in the app. If the club can’t be found an on screen message will instruct the user to contact their club.

If the Association has added Videos in the Admin Console, the currently featured Video will be displayed on the Association Home page with buttons to play the featured Video or browse the Video gallery.

  1. Changes to Navigation Drawer

The Navigation Drawer will be updated to support members without GHIN numbers, as well as club features.

For non-GHIN members, the golfer-centric shortcuts at the top of the drawer will not be displayed.

A new club section will be positioned above the “Application” shortcuts. The club section will include a list of all clubs the user has accessed (“My Clubs”), as well as a button to launch Find My Club.
