May 14/15, 2016 PENTECOST
Acts 2:1 “When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.” Notice that Pentecost is actually an Old Testament festival: it happens around the time when the wheat and oats are ready to be brought in. In the New Testament this becomes a picture and foreshadowing of the great harvest of humankind that God means to bring in through the preaching of His Word. God gives the seed, and God brings about the harvest – through the work of His Church.

May 14 & 15, 2016

WE WELCOME ALL WHO WORSHIP AT ST. PAUL’S. We pray that God will bless your worship with us. Please register your attendance on the pad at the end of the pew after the offering. As a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LC-MS), St. Paul’s practices close communion. We believe that receiving the Lord’s Supper together shows a common confession of faith in all areas of doctrine (not just in Communion).

If you are a member of a LC-MS congregation in good standing, you are invited to receive communion. If you are not a member of a LC-MS congregation, please talk with the pastor or an elder prior to the service. The elders are the gentlemen that are wearing the “ELDER” badges.

We offer both the common cup and individual up to those who commune. The center individual cups are white grape juice for those who are not able to have wine. Children are welcome to come forward with their family to receive a blessing. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper in every Saturday service, in the Sunday 8:00 a.m. on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday, and in the Sunday 10:30 a.m. on the 2nd and 4th Sunday.

New or visiting today? Please be sure to sign our Guest Register in the narthex. You’ll find plenty of useful information in this OnDeck (published weekly). You may also go to www.saintpaulstroy.org and find the monthly newsletter and other information about the church, school and daycare.

GRADUATE INFORMATION: If you have a son or daughter or relative that is graduating from high school, college or graduate school this year, please call the church office (667-6681) or email the office so we can put it in the church bulletin. We would like all information by May 19th.

NEW MEMBER DINNER – We are having a New Member Welcome Dinner on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. All members of the congregation are invited to welcome those who have joined our fellowship since June 2015 and enjoy dinner together. The deadline for members to RSVP is Wednesday, May 20; so that we will know how many are coming. This will be a potluck meal with fried chicken provided. The various Board and committee will be provided dishes. We ask that members of the congregation also bring a dish to share. There will be entertainment by the St. Paul’s Chimes Choir. Contact Kathy at the church office (667-6681) or email if you and your family plan to attend.
