“Getting Results” Gen 7 Power Days

AYP notification letters are sent to schools at the beginning of September

Dates for School Improvement I in 2010: October 11th, 18th, and December 13th, 2010

Dates for Schools in Warning and SI2, CA1, CA2, MP in 2010: November 3rd, 11th, 2010

and May 24th, 2011

Facilitators: Continuous School Improvement Department: Bobbie W. Pfingstler, Ed.D., Director; Sam Peterson, Educational Consultant; and Ed Catherman, Technology Curriculum Integrator

New Timeline Changes:

  • Schools in School Improvement I in 2010 will write a two year plan this fall to ensure NCLB compliance
  • Schools will have September 2010 through December 2010 to develop a two year plan that once approved will be the roadmap to guide the school through the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years.
  • Plans will be due to PDE by December 22, 2010
  • Schools in Warning will be required to write a plan to ensure NCLB compliance
  • Schools will have September 2010 through June 2011 to develop a plan for the upcoming school year (2011-2012)
  • Plans will be due to PDE by July 1, 2011
  • Schools in SI2, CA1, CA2, MP in 2010 will be required to review current plan and sign an AYP Assurances document to assure that the current plan addresses the reasons why the school failed to make AYP in 2010
  • Current plan remains in place during 2010-2011
  • Schools will have September 2010 through June 2011 to reflect on the implementation and effectiveness of their current plan and develop a revised plan for the upcoming school year (2011-2012)
  • Plans will be due to PDE by July 1, 2011

Schools who made AYP are most welcome and encouraged to participate in the November 3rd,11thand May 24th, 2011 Power Days and receive either Act 45 or Act 48 hours.

Participants will develop their own school improvement plan by guiding their team through a collaborative continuous improvement process.

The training addresses the following topics:

  • The phases of continuous school improvement.
  • Requirements for plan submission
  • Instructions within individual worksheets within Gen 7
  • The Quality Review Tool that will be used to review the completed plan.
  • The District Supplement requirement for schools in corrective action
  • The process for submission of the documents

Prepopulated Data Analysis Training 2 hours

This training focuses on the student achievement questions and the customized data provided to each school. (AYP and eMetrics)

PVAAS Training 3 hours

This training focuses on the use of PVASS reports, especially those used in the Getting Results document

Monitoring Implementation Training 2 Hours

This training provides examples and non-examples of evidence of effectiveness. It provides models for identifying data that will be used to monitor the implementation of the plan.

Technical Assistance 3 Hours

Technical assistance is provided to school teams as they develop their plans. CIU # 10 staff will provide support, answer questions, and suggest service to help school teams.

Job Embedded Assignments 12 Hours

  • The following job embedded assignments will demonstrate the application of the standards, big ideas, concepts, and competencies developed:
  • The principal will work collaboratively with school teacher leaders, regular and special education teachers to complete and submit the Getting Results Two year Planning Document.
  • The principal and teacher leaders will work collaboratively to lead the development, implementation and monitoring of the Getting Results Two Year Planning Document.
  • The principal will work collaboratively with teacher leaders to develop/use monitoring instruments to ensure school-wide fidelity of implementation of the school improvement plan.
  • The principal will work with district superintendents to ensure viability of the plan.

Final Project and Assessment

The completed Getting Results (Gen 7) document serves as the final project. The document will be reviewed by CIU # 10 staff using the Quality Review Criteria. The document will also be submitted for approval to Pennsylvania Department of Education.

8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Light breakfast and registration from 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Workshop ends at 3:00 p.m.

Reminder: Principals will need log-ins and passwords for PAAYP, PVAAS, and eMetrics. If you completed a plan last year bring the SIP with you in electronic and hard copy. Bring your laptops. We will also have laptops available.

Refund Procedure / Full refund: A full refund, 100%, will be issued if this event is cancelled by the IU due to low enrollment. A full refund 100% will be issued if a participant cancels at least one week (7 days) prior to the event. No refund: No refunds will be issued for cancellations by the participants with less than seven days’ notice, or if the participant simply does not attend. The registration fee will be used to pay for meals, materials, and other costs associated with the training workshop.
