Getting Ready To Receive!

2 Kings 3:9-13

9So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom, and they marched on that roundabout route seven days; and there was no water for the army, nor for the animals that followed them.

10And the king of Israel said, “Alas! For the LORD has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”

11But Jehoshaphat said, “Is there no prophet of the LORD here, that we may inquire of the LORD by him?”

So one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said, “Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.”

12And Jehoshaphat said, “The word of the LORD is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

13Then Elisha said to the king of Israel, “What have I to do with you? Go to the prophets of your father and the prophets of your mother.”

But the king of Israel said to him, “No, for the LORD has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”

1. Don’t Listen To The Negative Thinkers!

A. Trip Took Longer Than Planned.

B. After seven (7) days they ran out of water.

C. The Pessimist, sinner, Jehoram starts talking about God

1) God called them together to die?

2) Sounds like his father (Ahab) and mother (Jezebel)

who werealways blaming and accusing God or God’s

servants.

2 Kings 3:10 (text) And the king of Israel (Jehoram) said, “Alas! For the LORD has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”

2. Call On God To Help

A. Jehoshaphat Calls For A Man of God

B. It’s amazing how important God becomes when people are

in trouble.

C. They found Elisha in Samaria.

1. Elisha becomes angry with Jehoram

2 Kings 3:13-14 Then Elisha said to the king of Israel, “What have I to do with you? Go to the prophets of your father and the prophets of your mother.” But the king of Israel said to him, “No, for the LORD has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”

14And Elisha said, “As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, surely were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not look at you, nor see you.

2. Elisha called in the musicians

3. Began to worship – in the midst of doubt (Jehoram)

3. Do What God Tells You No Matter How Simple, Stupid,

Or Crazy It Seems!

A. Elisha told them to make the valley FULL OF DITCHES?

B. Have you dug any ditches latterly?

1) Give in the offering when I don’t have any money?

2) Teach a class when I don’t have time to study

3) Come to church on Sunday night when I need to rest?

B. So, they began to dig ditches

1) Some probably began to complain over the work of

digging ditches.

2) “Here we are sweating and about to thirst to death!”

3) Someone probably said, “Why dig ditches in the valley? –

Whycan’t Elisha’s God just fill the valley with water?”

C. Many want the easy way

1) No prayer, no fasting, no sacrifice….

2) Many complain about getting ready to receive from God.

3) They want what God has to offer but they aren’t willing to pay

the price for it.

A. When Everything was ready and they began to worship – The

morning sacrifice was offered ………The WATER CAME!

2 Kings 3:20 Now it happened in the morning, when the grain offering was offered, that suddenly water came by way of Edom, and the land was filled with water.

B. The Moabites saw the WATER as BLOOD and came to see if the

Kings had turned on themselves, but were defeated instead!

Conclusion:

When we get ready and begin to worship, The blessings of God will come!

No matter how simple, stupid, or crazy it sounds!!!!!

We have to get our minds off the problem and focus on the “Problem Solver”
