Part 1 – Finding Pictures

Directions: Using pictures that you take, pictures from magazines or pictures printed from the Internet, you will find real world examples (NOT illustrations or drawings) that represent the objects listed below. Warning: do not trust Google, the picture may not be a true representation of the image described below. You may only submit ONE picture from each category. Within each category, you can earn one, twoor threepoints depending on which sub-category your picture satisfies (For example: In category A, if you found a picture of parallel lines with NO transversal, that would earn you two points).

A / 1 points: Parallel lines with a perpendicular transversal.
2 points: Parallel lines with NO transversal.
3 points: Parallel lines with a non-perpendicular transversal. / B / 1 points: Vertical angles formed by two intersecting lines.
2 points: A linear pair of angles formed by two intersecting lines.
3 points: Complementary adjacent angles formed by two intersecting lines.
C / 1 points: Concentric circles.
2 points: Concentric squares with parallel edges.
3 points: Concentric triangles with parallel edges. / D / 1 points: A circle with 1 or 2 diameters.
2 points: A circle with 3 to 6 diameters.
3 points: A circle with 7 or more diameters.
E / 1 points: A cylinder or prism.
2 points: A Sphere.
3 points: A cone or pyramid. / F / 1 points: A hexagon.
2 points: A septagon.
3 points: A nonagon.
G / 1 points: An irregular trapezoid.
2 points: An isosceles trapezoid.
3 points: A trapezoid with two right angles. / H / 1 points: A regular quadrilateral.
2 points: A quadrilateral that is equiangular but NOT equilateral.
3 points: A quadrilateral that is not equilateral but NOT equiangular.
I / 1 points: An acute scalene triangle.
2 points: An equilateral triangle.
3 points: An obtuse scalene triangle. / J / 1 points: Example of a translation.
2 points: Example of a rotation.
3 points: Example of a reflection.
K / 1 points: A line segment.
2 points: A line with the arrows.
3 points:A ray with an arrow. / L / 1 points: Coplanar line segments.
2 points:A concave polygon.
3 points: 1 pair ofintersecting Parallel lines.

Part 2 – The Poster

Create a poster with the title Scavenger Hunt prominently written at the top. Write your name and class period on the back. Neatly organize each picture that you found with the Geometry title of what it is and the category and point value (For example: Concentric Triangles with Parallel Edges: C- 3 points). Clearly circle the object in the picture that you think satisfies the conditions. If you mislabel a picture then it will not be counted. Remember that neatness and creativity will benefit you.

Grading Scale

1. Points possible from the pictures
2. Poster:

Please Note: You can choose a picture from every category and earn extra credit, but not more than 6 points extra credit can be earned making the project worth a maximum of 56 points possible. This project will be counted into your notebook grade.

5 points will be deducted for every day late and the project will not be accepted 5 school days after the due date.
