Geometry Honors Construction Project Duffy

Due Date: Thursday October 13th

For this project, you will be assigned one of the “figures” from the last two pages of this packet. You will be creating two versions of this figure, a “technical” version and an “artistic” version. In addition to these two version you will be writing detailed instructions that give the step by step process you used to construct your figure.

Technical: The “technical” version must be exact. Do not erase any of your markings. This version should look like an architect’s drawing. Your design needs to fill the majority of a regular piece of paper leaving little room around the edges. When constructing your technical version, label all points of intersection. These labeled points will correspond to you instruction sheet. Leave all of you markings, do not erase your work. Make this drawing perfect, start over if necessary. Stray marks, erase marks, smudges, errant curves, will all lower your grade.

Instructions: On a separate piece of paper write out step by step instructions that correspond to your technical drawing. All of the figures are based on a hexagon, you should state you are constructing a hexagon by the name of ABCDEF. From there, it’s all about using diagonals to find different points of intersections to create your design. As you work to create you design, transfer your steps onto a step by step instructions page. The final instructions should be easy to follow. If you gave these instructions to another student, would they easily construct your design?

Artistic: The “artistic” version will have all the technical markings completely erased. It should also fill the majority of a page. Color it, make it look like the original figure, be creative and add your own personal touch to your design.

Order of your project

The artistic version will be your cover sheet, or page one. Followed by the technical drawing then the instructions.
