Genetic Engineering
What do you think of Genetic Engineering? What’s your opinion to it? Do you think it’s good or bad?
Honestly, everyone has their own personal opinion to everything. So 75% of people might think that Genetic Engineering is a good thing, and 75% of people might think that it’s a bad thing. Everyone has different minds, and different opinions to everything; especially with things like Genetic Engineering.
To me Genetic Engineering is a good thing. It helps you with a lot of things, and it’s easier to figure a lot of stuff out also. Punnet Squares can really help with Genetic Engineering. They help doctors figure out a lot of things that they didn’t know. They help figure out if a baby is going to be a boy or a girl etc. I believe that without Genetic Engineering we wouldn’t be able to do a lot of the stuff that we do now. If we didn’t have Punnet Squares it would take way longer to find a lot of things out. If we didn’t have Punnet Squares then it would take a long while to figure out if a baby was a boy or girl before the baby was even born. It makes things so much simpler if you have a Punnet Square.
I believe in Genetic Engineering because it helps make medicines that people need. Genetic Engineering helps kids with disease get the medicine they need. Like insulin for Diabetics, if we didn’t have Genetic Engineering then Diabetics would have a hard time staying as healthy as they need to be. 80% of Diabetics use medicine from Genetic Engineering to help save their lives.The body completely stops producing any insulin, a hormone that enables the body to use glucose found in foods for energy.Sickle Cell is another disease that would be terrible if we didn’t have Genetic Engineering. It’s a very serious disease already, and we wouldn’t want anything worse to happen.In sickle cell anemia, a lower-than-normal number of red blood cells occur because sickle cells don’t last very long. Sickle cells usually die after only about 10 to 20 days. The bone marrow can’t make new red blood cells fast enough to replace the dying ones.
One reason why some people may think that Genetic Engineering is bad is because they may not have to take any medicines. So their probably thinking, “Why should I care about Genetic Engineering if it doesn’t have anything to do with me?”
So Genetic Engineering is great in so many ways. It helps make medicines for kids and adults who really need it. It helps make everything easier for doctors, and people. Also it has just made a BIG difference in a lot of people’s lives today.
